Land Records

I tried to get the SRT for my property through my county's property appraisers office and was told they had no idea how to get that info. apparently their property description is in another format. How do I go about finding the SRT for my property so I can get the Patent through the BLM?

Gearjam - Not all states use STR. The 13 original states use meets and bounds for legal descriptions. Also, the patents issued in said states were issued either by the proprietors or the state, not the BLM. If you are in such a state, you need the legal description in meets and bounds. The legal description of the Land should be on the current deed.

Also consider that most states keep their land records in the County Clerk and Recorder's Office; not in the Assessors' Office.
